Amazon’s The Boys is a superhero series based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The show is set in a world where superheroes are not the heroes we know them to be. Instead, they are corrupt and use their powers for their gain, much to the detriment of ordinary people. The Boys are a group of vigilantes who are out to expose the truth about these superheroes and take them down. The show has become incredibly popular since its release in 2019, and here are eight unknown facts about it.

1. HBO

The show’s creator, Eric Kripke, initially pitched it to HBO but was turned down because the network felt it was too violent and edgy for their audience.

Billy Butcher, played by Karl Urban, was initially written as a British comic character. However, Kripke thought that Urban’s New Zealand accent would add a layer of complexity to the character and change the character’s nationality.

3. Costume Designing

The show’s costume designer, Laura Jean Shannon, created over 1,200 costumes for the show’s first season.

4. Homelander

The character of Homelander, played by Antony Starr, was initially supposed to be played by actor Jack Reynor. However, Reynor dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.

5. Music

The show’s music supervisor, Christopher Lennertz, created a unique sound for each character with a specific theme.

6. Visual Effects

The show’s special effects team created over 1,500 visual effects shots for the show’s first season.

7. Frenchie

The character of Frenchie, played by Tomer Capon, was initially supposed to be a French character in the comics. However, Capon is Israeli, so the character’s nationality was changed to fit the actor’s background.

Amazon’s The Boys is a show that has captured audiences’ attention in satirical and comic ways. As a result, the series became the town’s talk when it hit the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video.
